National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme is a Central Sector scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It is aimed at developing student’s personality through community service. NSS is included in the curriculum of all UG programmes. The course is distributed over four semesters for I and II year students. At present our college has 6 functional NSS units. Each unit consists of 100 volunteers. Out of 6 units, 4 units are allotted for boys and 2 units are allotted for girls. Each unit has an Assistant Professor as its Programme Officer (PO).

Participation in NSS is based on willingness of students. NSS volunteers are expected to complete 120 hours of regular activities during an academic year and an annual special camp of 7 days duration. All the volunteers who have served as a volunteer of NSS for 2 years and have put in 240 hours of work are eligible to receive 2 certificates. Annual special camps are funded by the Government of India and are usually located in adopted rural or suburban areas.
